Tying Recipe and materials:

  • Hook: Demmon DSD 110 #14-#18
  • Thread: Uni 8/0 black
  • Hot Spot: Orange Thread
  • Body: Troutline peacock quill hand cleaned – olive color
  • Tail: Coq de Leon barbs -pardo flor de escoba
  • Bead – tungsten in black

Fishing tips:

  • perfect for fishing using any style of nymphing
  • extremely efficient  with French nymph technique  called “peche a vue”
  • use it when the fish are very careful in picking insects
  • when the olive insects and flies are hatching, this nymph is deadly!

      Hi Jeff,
      In France (in Alps, in Jura region ) these are called Frenchies and are flies made 25 years ago or more 🙂 I know that in US and UK a nymph with body made of barbs from pheasant tail and collar of hot orange or orange dubbing is called frenchies too. In fact this type of nymph was used by Czech fishermen and Polish fishermen almost 30 years ago under different names. These flies where popular a while ago ( around 1995-2000 ) in fishing competitions..
