0 No tags Permalink

Using Hare guard fur instead of hackle is super fun to tie and gives the possibility to create superb flies. Guard fur is waterproof due to special construction and has an unique pigmentation.

A few advises when you work with this type of fur:

  • use only the guard fur
  • the best guard fur is on the back
  • when you cat it take in consideration the natural curved direction of fibers
  • cut it from the base, closest to skin
  • take out the underfur – easy blow air over it until will go away
  • fix it in dubbing loop as uniform as possible
  • length of loop with hair trapped should be equal with hook shank
