Today I had to tie a few streamers. A good friend of mine asked me to make some in rusty brown, as he fishes in Austria for big rainbow trout — over 60 cm — and told me that this color works really well in autumn.
Since he was in a hurry, I decided to tie them as quickly as possible. I made 10 streamers, plus one extra, tied on a new hook that just arrived in the shop — a hook with a slightly longer shank that I really like.
So here’s how they turned out:

The streamer on the left is tied on the new hook Demmon Competition ST910, while the one on the right is on the already classic Demmon Competition W633.
I’m not sure which one you’ll like more, but I think the result looks pretty good. It’s possible that the profile is actually better on a hook with a slightly longer shank.

Materials:
- Hook: #10 Demmon W633
- Thread: Sumo in white color 50DEN
- Body: synthetic dubbing in white color
- Tail: orange synthetic dubbing fibers tied short
- Wing: Squirrel zonker strips -bron rusty color
- Eyes: 3D eyes
- Coating: for head and to secure the eyes: UV resin

Those look awesome. And I like the new hook. Maybe a bit more hook gap clearance with the straight eye?

Hi Tim, Thanks for your comment:) Tim, you just gave me an idea! I have a few hook models made as samples. I should photograph them and ask for feedback from passionate anglers like you — your advice would help me a lot.
Since I do fish with streamers but I’m not a fanatic about it (I only go once a year to places where this kind of fishing really works), your input would be incredibly helpful in choosing the best hooks 🙂
cheers!
