Caddis flies are one of the most consistent and dependable food sources for fish. At the beginning of the season, together with mayflies, they become an important target for trout coming out hungry after the long winter. That is why I strongly recommend these flies during this period.
So far, I have presented several caddis nymph patterns in different styles and tied with different techniques. Today, I want to show you a caddis pupa tied on a unique hook: a jig curve hook with a shape that comes close to the famous circle hook, well known for its excellent hooking efficiency and its ability to keep fish securely pinned during the fight, reducing the chances of losing them compared to other hook models.
