Hi guys,
These days I had to tie a few Grannom Caddis Nymphs for a friend from the UK. He told me that these simple flies are extremely effective on his local rivers in England and they work better than those made with dubbing ( I used Mojo Yarn in a strong green color). I tied a few for him last year, and now he asked me to make more because he lost them all.
For those who know this caddis fly, here are a few words about these medium-small insects. Grannom caddis nymphs are usually around 0.6–1.4 cm long. They are active insects that live close to the riverbed, hiding among rocks and aquatic plants. They hatch in April, which is why they are also known as April Caddis.
They are an important food source for trout, especially during this period, because they often appear in large numbers. Before emerging, they become more active and drift more often, which makes trout and grayling pay close attention to them.

Materials:
- Hook in size #12-14-16 Demmon C400 BL ( I prefer size 14 and 16)
- Thread: underbody thread was Perdigon Body Thread in yellow
- Thread: Sumo 30 DEN white to avoid interfering with the color of the insect
- Body: Mojo Yarn – color A16
- Thorax: peacock herl
- Bead: tungsten in gold
