Brown CDC Emerger -French Style

Brown CDC Emerger – tied in the French style – is one of my favorite flies to tie and fish, especially during hot summer days.
To be honest, it’s not a pure emerger — it’s more of a hybrid. This fly can be fished dry, but when it gets wet, it performs beautifully in the surface film.

It’s one of my go-to emergers not only because it’s effective, but also because it works both as a dry and a wet fly — perfect for lazy fishermen like me 🙂

I decided to include it in the Troutline Shop selection of flies, so if anyone wants to buy it, you can now find it here:

For you guys who love to tie your own fly here is the recipe:

  • Hook: Demmon Supreme D201 #14
  • Thread: Any thread you like in brown color
  • Tail: Coq de Leon rubion
  • Ribbing: Brown body Thread ( I use Perdigon body thread )
  • Body: CDC brown
  • Hackle: Yellow CDC with Partridge grey barbs – trimmed under the hook shank
