I present you a simple emerger for Autumn. I call it Cripple emerger and is tied with peacock quill and a wild CDC wing. Not too small — tied on a #16 hook, it’s perfect for trout and grayling fishing in late autumn evenings.
Materials:
Hook: Demmon Supreme E500 -#16 – I find it a great emerger hook
Thread: Sumo Power Thread 30 DEN – black ( A2 color code)
Tail: Yellow Crystal body thread
Body: Peacock quill – cleaned in natural color
Thorax: Mad rabbit dubbing – natural color
Legs: Partridge – grey neck barbs
Wing: CDC -2 feathers from wild mallard duck
Tying tips:
-Keep the body slim. Use the thinnest thread you can find — 30DEN or even 10DEN will help. Emergers are fragile and delicate, so try to maintain a profile similar to the small insects we’re trying to imitate.
-Keep the wing light. If you fish on fast-flowing rivers, you can increase the number of feathers, but make sure to keep them long. A wing that’s too short will make the fly too bulky and it won’t float as it should.
