All-Around Micro Nymphs for Hot Summer Days

If you don’t know what to fish with this summer, when everything is melting from the heat and rivers are barely flowing, here’s a tiny little fly that gets the job done.

It’s tied simply, with a body that mimics nymphs, buzzers, and all sorts of aquatic insects. Basically, it’s a mini generic fly.

You can tie it in different colors and add all kinds of effects—whatever you like.

My recommendation? Black and olive. They’re insanely effective.

What I like about these flies is their simplicity and their translucency. They’re a lot of fun to tie, and the fish will definitely take them. 🙂

Ok, now about the fly: size 20 or maximum 18 hooks. Oversized bead like 2.8 or 3mm will work fine on these hooks. Underbody colored like Perdigon Body Thread will help to give a nice shade. The body is made from micro wormy body material (in black, and shades of brown and olive). It’s a juicy-looking material that I really like, but unfortunately, I haven’t had enough time to photograph the flies I’ve tied with it.

As for thorax I do not use dubbing, will not help the fly to sink as fast I like, so I use Crystal Body Thread, is fine enough and will not give a bulky appearance .

Brown works fine but what I found strange, it work excellent on some rivers and it is less effective on others. When I switch on black or olive things changes.
