The moment has come when the sedge start coming out more and more often especially those that are called in the archaic language: cased-caddis.

As a consequence I intend to show you a type of caddis pupa, a very efficient one is always present in my flybox.

I invite you to tie it on a large size hooks for trout and on small size ones for graylings.

Hook: Daiichi C47BL #12

Weight: tungsten bid of 3.5mm and lead wire

Body: yarn yellowish white

Thorax: fleece gray dubbing or hares year dubbing. Two turns of black hares dubbing or synthetic one close to the bid.

Tinsel: optional and is set on the lead, under the yarn.

I brush the body so that the removed fibres can imitate as realistic as possible the abdominal part of the insect’s body. The same thing happens if you brush the gray and black fibres of the thorax, as these imitate the little legs and the sheath of the wings.

This fly is very easy to tie and easily matches the real one.
