Jef, "catgut" is a thread(or string) of animal origin, which is used for sutures inside the human body.

nice nymph !! what kind of material is this catgut, seemes a kind of monofilament?
the last photo's : are they wet or did you put some glue/varnish on it?

Awsome effect with the cat gut as abdomen. I wish i had these flies down in NZ this season.
