Hi, Lucian! I, and my frends plan a trip to Ammarnas next summer. We have learned that Sjoforsen is a good fishing spot for grayling. Would you share what the price is per day and your fishing tactics?

      Hi Dancho,
Yes it is a good spot for grayling but is damn expensive – 100eur/day. The spot is well known for trout fishing not for grayling but of course you can see there a nice population of grayling. The rule of one fly is applied from this year on grayling so fishing is quite difficult. If you are lucky to see some hatches there you will catch on dry flies. Otherwise is almost impossible to fish with only one nymph.
Fishing can be nice in days with proper water level but extremely difficult if the water level is too high or too low. I fish there from 2009 each year but I think that this year was the last… Too many fishermen, difficult to book a day , fishing staff from guidecenter from Ammarnas are not friendly anymore and the fishing rules are stupid for grayling fishing….
If you are looking to catch grayling then go on other places which are better by far. For example: Laisalven in the upper part : Akerforsen and Bratforsen. Just go on Fiske Info Point from Sorsele and ask info about these 2 spots, they will let you know how you can go there.
Vindel is great for grayling fishing under the Emil’s Fishing Kamp. The priceof the fishing licence is around 100kr and strangely not fishermen in that part 🙂
      cheers
      Lucian
